The Only Person

I’ve been trying to think of some words of wisdom

That could help cheer you up, if you’re feeling down and blue.

But I’ve come to realise that what I’ve learnt about myself over the years,

May in fact, also be helpful for you.

Because the only person who will always be there by your side,

The only person who’ll be true.

The only person who you can really rely upon,

Is the only person that’s you.

And although we can go through life, never fully appreciating ourselves,

Never glimpsing sight of the beautiful light that shines through

The wonderful layers that make you who you really are.

The true essence of what it means to be you.

And we all know life can be really hard at times.

At times it can be a real struggle to get through.

But I hope on these days you can now look in the mirror,

Look yourself proudly in the eye, and see who we see when we look at you.
